My New Year's Goals

I heard that you're more likely to keep your New Year's goals if you post them and make them public because then you are accountable to more than just yourself. I believe these goals are the most important for me to work on this year. Sometimes as the year goes on I let goals slip through the crack because I no longer understand the value as much of that specific goal....SO...even though some of these goals may seem silly, they are important to me for a special reason.

DAILY
-Verbally pray morning and evening and take time to ponder and listen afterwards.
-Study scriptures for 30 minutes, pray before and after, and write in my journal.
-Write in my gratitude journal.
-Choose to focus on the GOOD and assume the BEST about EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.
-Facebook a status or picture and 1 person.
-Practice the alto line for 1 hymn.
-Drink 64 oz of water.
-Diligently study Korean after Brigham goes to bed until my bedtime.

WEEKLY
-Write in my journal twice.
-Exercise 150 minutes.
-Work on family history from me and on for 2 hours.
-Prepare and participate in a service project.
-Plan and post a weekly menu using the Food Pyramid as a guide.
-Add to food storage (even 1-2 cans).
-Make 1 blog post and 2 thoughtful comments.

MONTHLY
-Contact families in a fun way each holiday.
-Make a recipe book of food storage meals and an inventory sheet.
-Make packing/home checklist for trips and prepare for trips 1 week in advance (if possible).
-Remember people's birthdays/special events with notes/gifts.

Please ask me about my goals throughout the year and see how I'm doing. Remember though...these are GOALS! That means that I'm working towards making these things part of my character...they aren't part of my character yet...so I will fall short sometimes and that's ok as long as I continue to move forward, progress, and do my personal best. As President Thomas S. Monson quoted "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal" (3 Gates Only You Can Open, Aug 2008 New Era).

Happy New Year!
